Happy New Groundhog Year Day
That’s the latest holiday card I’ve ever received, but I give my daughter credit for getting something out, even in late January!
Since my last post was a Christmas memory, I too am running late, and for similar reasons–holidays, post-holiday catch-up, challenges with the grandparenting/parenting thing. Then on top of that, I spent most of January preparing for a solo gallery show of my art.
The parenting thing is going better. Coincidentally, I got her on health insurance and took her to a therapist on the same day, after five months of trying. She loves the guy and can’t wait for the next appointment. Bonus: he’s across the street from one of Austin’s iconic taco places, so Thursdays are now Torchy’s Taco night.
Update on the Saga of the Search for the Perfect Purse: the baby bag was getting a little bedraggled, plus it wasn’t quite perfect–a little too wide to set down in some places, like under the pew in church. I saw this on sale at Kohl’s (half the $90 price tag, which I would never have paid) and decided to try it. It’s TekGear, designed as workout bag (it even has a slot for a yoga mat). It’s tall rather than wide so it fits better, and it has the right pockets and straps, although I have yet to find a use for the yoga mat space. It’s a lot hipper to carry than a diaper bag, although that never stopped me. I did get asked in a book store to check my bag. I just stared the guy down and said “This is my purse.” Sometimes it’s not so bad being old. Nobody messes with you.
