The Big Reveal

Seven or eight weeks, two trips out of town, one car mishap, a houseful of Thanksgiving guests and tons of work, mostly by our hired workers but quite a bit ourselves, the house is pretty much done, with sanity intact and no major meltdowns (for which I give much of the credit to Prozac).

It could have been worse: the driver who backed into the car came and looked for us and took responsibility (her pickup wasn’t damaged); her insurance company has been responsive; the car could be driven (we were out of town); and I have a rental while it’s being repaired.

Meanwhile, back at the condo, we had all the (13-year-old) downstairs carpet removed (including the master bath–who puts carpet in a bathroom?). We had most of the downstairs painted, adding a green accent wall in the living room. I scraped all the (24-year-old) wallpaper off the master bath walls. We replaced the carpet with Swiftlock Cordova Cherry laminate in all but the bathroom, which now has vinyl tile. Credit goes to our great workers, Chris and Michael Powell, and the Lowe’s for their excellent customer service.

Bring on the holidays!
